Christmas Note
Dear Parent(s),
St. Vincent de Paul – WLR Christmas Appeal – On Friday 16th December we are holding a “WEAR RED TO SCHOOL DAY”. This is a countywide event and buckets will be available for donations on the day.
Christmas Nativity
A Christmas Nativity will be held in the Church on Monday 19th December at 10.00 a.m. All are welcome to attend.
Christmas Cards
We request that children do not exchange Christmas cards with each other in school.
Annual Christmas Raffle.
We are mindful that there has been huge financial demands placed on you recently and as a result we are not holding our Annual Raffle until Easter 2017.
Christmas Holidays
The school will close for Christmas Holidays on Thursday 22nd December at 12.30 p.m. and will re-open on Monday 9th January 2017.
School Website
We would encourage parents to please keep checking the ‘Calendar’ tab on school website – Rathgormackns.com, for any updates on times/dates of forthcoming events.
The teachers and staff of Rathgormack N.S. would like to say that while Christmas presents are very thoughtful we do not expect them. However, if your child/children would really like to give a present please remember it is not the cost of the present but the thought that counts (e.g. something home-made).
We would like to wish all our pupils, their families and staff a very happy and peaceful Christmas.
Thanking you,
Catherine Power
Principal.
Under 13 Football League Finals
Congratulations to both our Girls and Boys Under 13 football teams as they have both reached the final in their league.
The boys’ match will be played on Tuesday 25th October at 12.40pm at
Wit Campus,Carriganore Waterford. The girls’ match will be played at the same venue on the following day Wednesday 26th October at 12.40pm.
Best of Luck to both our team
Locals Hannah and Yawn are volunteering on the Greek island of Lebos to help with the Syrian Refugee Crisis. On Friday 7th October the school held a fundraiser. Using apples from our school tree the pupils got stewed apple with ice cream and custard. All went down a treat and €300 was donated by the pupils of the school towards this worthy cause.
Awarding of the Blue Flag
The school was delighted to be awarded the prestigious Blue Flag for
successfully completing the blue star programme. This programme
involved fostering a better understanding of the E.U., what it means
and how it works.
Pupils were challenged to get creative and think about Europe by
carrying out projects about four key elements; the history, geography,
culture and creativity, and the institutions of the E.U. Well done to
all!
Greenway Cycle
Mrs. Power’s class enjoyed a cycle on the Greenway for Bike Week 2016.
Cycling from Durrow to Clonea Strand and back. Along the way they
stopped to enjoy the Durrow tunnel, Durrow viaduct and the stunning
scenery across to Helvick Head. Thank you to the parent volunteers who
transported bikes and assisted on the cycle.
Thank you from Barry
Barry Meehan has successfullyy completed his Mizen to Malin Challenge
and raised a total of 2532 euro for the ‘Friends of Kenny’ charity. He
