Celebrating 50 Years
We marked the 50th anniversary of our school on the 16th June 2023. We were joined on the evening by previous principals and staff, past and present pupils and many members of the local community. Everyone enjoyed the displays of old photographs, roll books and other items in our ‘museum’. It was a very sociable evening of sharing memories and chatting. We look forward to a bright future and the next 50 years in Rathgormack NS!
All classes undertook a walk around the village to take in the history of the old national school which operated from 1909 to 1973 (now H&N Ironworks) and the very first school in Rathgormack which dates back to 1846. Some classes also visited the ‘beheading stone’ and were given a super history lesson from Barbara Greene.

Barry Meehan also showed the children how to do a safety check on their bikes. The older classes then took on their cycle on the road, led by Barry. This would not have been possible without the help of parents to steward all the junctions along the way. Thank you all for your support – everybody had a wonderful day.

Seachtain na Gaeilge
Ceolchoirm sár-mhaith a bhí againn an bhliain seo ar an 16ú de mhí Márta. Thaitin sé go mór le gach duine. Bhí na paistí ag damhsa, ag canadh, ag insint filíochta, ag seinm uirlisí ceoil agus sheas gach duine d’Amhrán na bhFhiain ag an deireadh. Is é an béim atá ar Sheachtain na Gaeilge ná an teanga a labhairt níos mó i rith an lae sa scoil agus sa bhaile agus is cinnte go d’éirigh linn é sin a dhéanamh.
Maith thú gach éinne!
Zumba Show on March 13th
Our Zumba teacher Rebecca co-ordinated a show for parents to experience what the children have been learning over the six weeks of zumba lessons.
